Meditation
has exploded into every corner of life in the last 20 years primarily due to the research that has revealed just how effective meditation is for humans. While the origins of meditation are known in the ancient east where practitioners of meditation wove its benefits through the religious teachings of the time, today were are seeing meditation as part of the post-modern western world.
At a time when technology dominates all facets of human life, people are searching for ways to bring balance into their lives. And it’s not easy.
A technological world means that connectivity is normative. Humans are beginning to interface with their devices. All forms of human-to-human communication is increasingly digitized. Humans are evolving as the external world around them evolves.
Yet, until and unless the internal world of the human experience is supported equal in time and attention given to the external world, there will be imbalance.
Imbalance is showing up as pervasive mental health problems. Emotional issues leading to loneliness and a sense of disconnection with others. Stress reactions in the work place. Inability to sleep. And loss of personal identity.
Humans are not digital analogs. It is imperative to reinforce the inner world of the human experience in sufficient means to appropriately counter the pressures brought about by the pace of today’s world.
